CONSISTENCY EXTENDS KINGSHOTT’S LEAD
Consistent performances during two of Western Australia’s biggest events – the Barbagallo Australian MR Sprintcar Nationals and the Krikke Boys Shootout – over the past week have rewarded Dayne Kingshott and the Krikke Motorsport team with a feature race win and extended their current Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series point standings lead.
During the $40,077 to win Australian MR Sprintcar Nationals saw the team run a black and gold WA # 77 car in tribute to Alf Barbagallo, ran an impressive second place on the opening night; however, despite being in a front-running position on the second night, things didn’t go according to plan, and he recorded a rare DNF due to an engine issue. Kingshott and the team bounced back three nights later during the Midweek Mayhem event at Perth Motorplex and picked up a third-place finish on the podium.

Last weekend’s Krikke Boys Shootout was run in honour of Daryl, Jason, Shane and Michael Kirkke with a $20,095 winner’s prize up for grabs and it is an event that is very near and dear to all at Krikke Motorsport. It started in near perfect fashion when Dayne was second in his group in qualifying and won his heat, dash and dominated the feature race for his sixth win of the season. The second and final night saw Kingshott forced to play catch up after a poor qualifying run, but he and the team showed their never-say-die spirit once again and managed to finish in sixth after they had started from a deep out of position 17 in the feature race field.
Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke was really pleased to see Kingshott and the team come away from yet another busy period of the season with more solid performances.
“Running five nights in just over a week is quite hectic for everyone, but the team once again stood up to it, and we are happy to come away from each of those nights with plenty of car speed. Obviously a DNF wasn’t ideal during the Australian MR Sprintcar Nationals, and we would have liked to have started a lot closer to the front in the Krikke Boys Shootout race, but that’s racing,” he said.
“It was a real privilege and an honour to roll out the black and gold car for the Barbagallo family during the Australian MR Sprintcar Nationals, and I would like to thank Vince Barbagallo for trusting us with that. The boys, Dayne included, haven’t missed a beat all season and I’m really looking forward to the last half a dozen rounds, as there is still plenty of racing to go and six opportunities to get another win or two before the season is done.”
