MADSEN RETURNS FOR KMS
It’s official! Kerry Madsen is returning to Australia, and he will be piloting the WA # 2 Krikke Motorsport machine for a quick trip to compete in a selection of this season’s major 410 Sprintcar events.
After three years away from Australian shores, Madsen and Krikke Motorsport can’t wait to hit the track once again as a team.
“It’s been a vision, a deal that I’ve been working on for quite some time now,” commented Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke.
“Obviously when the International / state borders closed back in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the team and I were forced to make a swift change and we engaged local Dayne Kingshott as our driver and it has worked out very well, but I gave my word to Kerry (Madsen) that we would get back together as a team, and that time is now.”
Krikke continued by saying that the team plans to contest major events on both the west and east coast of the country – on various occasions running a two-car team – that includes the WA VS USA Speedweek Series finale at the Perth Motorplex with both Kingshott and Madsen then head over to the east coast with Madsen to run the King’s Challenge at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway (SA) and the Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway (Vic), before returning to the west coast to run the Prelude to the Championship. The team will then bring both cars back to the Perth Motorplex for the Australian Championship and the Krikke Boys Shootout.
“It’s going to be a short, sharp schedule with Kerry, but at the same time, I didn’t want to do this deal at the detriment of Dayne who has been really good, plus we have a commitment to the SEG Series here in Western Australia with him and I didn’t want him to miss a round, so on the five occasions we run at the Perth Motorplex we’ll be running a two-car team which is next level for sure, but it’s the only way we could make it happen,” he explained.
“Other than that, we will be running the King’s Challenge and the Grand Annual Classic with Kerry on the east coast and coming off a last-start win with Dayne and having this deal with Kerry all come together over the past week, the whole team is pumped and excited about the rest of the season ahead.”
